Malta is a beautiful Mediterranean island with a rich history, stunning architecture, and breathtaking landscapes. In this post, I share my top 10 recommendations of things to do and see in Malta:
Explore Valletta
Explore the capital city of Malta, a UNESCO world heritage city, with beautiful baroque architecture and a lively old town atmosphere. Enjoy views across the harbour from the Upper Barrakka Gardens, witness traditional gun salute ceremonies and explore the war tunnels or soak up the atmosphere in one of the many cafes and bars in Valletta’s old timey streets.
Sunset at Sliema
Catch the sunset at Tigne Point in Sliema, Malta, for a stunning view of Valletta's skyline. With the warm glow on the city buildings, and the light dancing on the harbour water, it’s the perfect spot to soak in Malta's beauty and snap some Insta-worthy pics.
Blue Grotto
Take a boat tour from the village of Wied iż-Żurrieq. Sailing by the picturesque sea caves along the south coast of Malta, you can admire the crystal-clear blue waters and stunning rock formations. The boats may stop operating in windy weather conditions, however, just a 10 minute uphill walk from the village, you can reach the viewpoint above the famous Blue Grotto sea cave.
Megalithic temples
Discover Malta's ancient past and marvel at the megalithic temples. On the south coast, just 1 bus stop from Blue Grotto, you can find the site of Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra. These sites date back over 5,000 years and are among the oldest freestanding structures in the world, thought to be built before the Stonehenge and the Pyramids of Egypt!
